Ø Because of the fact that some matches like Eights- Finals may not draw capacity crowds it should be possible to organize the transport and stewarding of school Children, who will be off, to these matches and maybe bring a smile to the faces of hard pressed parents as well.

Ø The extra Summer games should see lesser-used provincial grounds getting “more of the action " and would help the spread of good will towards our game.

Ø Where there is an expression of a desire to see hurling proliferate, it is sometimes accompanied by the comment, that if a team stays in All-Ireland content after losing more than one match then we are watching “a meaningless match ".

Ø  I would like to pose the question “Where two teams, take to the field in a tussle of wits, shills and preparedness, in front of a crowd of people watching and the next generation watching- how can the noble art of hurling be so described?".

Ø To put it in a more pithy way “Can there even be such a thing as a meaningless hurling match when both teams stay in All Ireland contention?"

“Towards a Better Future for Hurling”

It should be noted, moreover, that one cannot really leave the Football Championships untouched while attending in isolation to the problems of Hurling . With the two at inter county level being so interdependent, we are left with only so many precious playing weekends throughout the playing season.

There are many calls for players' available time to be optimised and training overloads to be curtailed or even capped.

The problem is further exacerbated by the fact that all inter- county players at either code have a busy club schedule also.

Trying to juggle their playing commitments is a difficult problem for so many off those players and the present inter- club scene must be examined and ways found to address their problems.

We propose to look at all of those matters in the coming weeks and to advance our ideas to do just that.

Furthermore, it is appreciated that the matters concerned here  are very complex and if any concerned group or organisation would like a face-to-face meeting to discuss our proposals further, we will make very effort to co-operate.
